A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
